Mindful Monday: Fugan

w/Fugan Dineen .:. has been practicing meditation since the mid 1980s. Under the guidance of his first teacher, Venerable Thich Nhat Hahn, Fugan studied the path of compassion and mindfulness and ordained as a lay member of the Order of Interbeing. He has also practiced intensively in the Kuan Um School of Zen under the guidance of Zen Master Seung Sahn. In 2000, Fugan met and began sitting with his current teacher, Enkyo Roshi, co-founder and abbot of the Village Zendo in NYC. Fugan took precepts with Enkyo Roshi in 2001. In 2004 he ordained as a Soto Zen priest; was shuso (practice leader) in 2008; and is now a full priest (oshō) in the Village Zendo sangha. Over the years, Fugan has taught meditation and mindfulness to practitioners of all ages. In 2009, Fugan founded Hyannis Zendo, a small affiliate of Village Zendo located on Cape Cod. In addition to Zen practice, Fugan works as a percussionist and as a professor of ethnomusicology at Boston College.
